I feel the earth move…Under my feet
Well for New Yorkers yesterday it felt like the city was going to tumble down. Not being used to the earth’s natural eb and flow, an earthquake in New York City pretty much freaked all of us out!! I was looking out my window and I noticed that DUMBO was moving. Or was it my building that was moving?
Having been trained as a kid with earthquake drills in California and gone through a major one in LA, I was ready!
But not quite ready for the Big Apple to start bobbing in the Atlantic Ocean two months before Halloween.
Don’t worry, all’s well that shakes well! New York has already shaken off the Earthquake like a hard foul in basketball!
Back to keeping this machine moving, no matter what!!
Back to more important things like the alleged, love affair scandal of DSK.
Way more important!
THE MARS BAR – EAST VILLAGE, NY
Have you ever walked by somewhere that reminds you of an era? A place that stays suspended in time. Just to make sure that you never forget . Well that place was The Mars Bar in the East Village of New York City for me. This photo series on The Mars Bar which recently closed is personal tribute to a New York City institution!
The Mars Bar was the 1st bar that I’d ever went to in the East Village. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot the Mars Bar before it closed and meet the owner who had kept this East Village Mecca open for 26 years!
If you didn’t get a chance to have a shot and a beer or play a song that you hadn’t heard in a while on the jukebox or even laugh with a complete stranger that you’d just met who happens to be the owner, then I hope this gives you small glimpse from the inside out into the Experience called The Mars Bar!
RIP -Mars Bar!!
