I Love Coney Island during the summer! When was a kid and even as an adult, I’d jump on the train and head out there. Especially at night beacuse of the neon lights!! If you have a day off and are looking for something to do, then pack a lunch and jump on the D or the F Train to Coney. You won’t regret it!!

Does your Dad love classic cars? My Father did!
He had a ’66 Jaguar, a Fiat Spyder convertible and Dodge Challenger.
The same car they use in “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
My Father’s was bright lime green. He raced other drivers when we lived in
Rochester N.Y. His car was fast and he was always being challenged to races.
One time when my Father was out to sea. My Mom and I were in the Challenger.
When someone challenged us to a race thinking that my Dad was driving.
We raced. We won! Of course!
And the guy that we beat saw my Dad in the store and said “ you really smoked me” last week!
My Dad said, “I was out to sea last week. I didn’t beat you, my wife did!”

Everybody knows that Brooklyn is where it’s at right now! Williamsburg, DUMBO, Red Hook, Smith Street. But not too many people have ventured down to lower Atlantic Avenue to the famous sailor haunt Montero’s.
My Dad a career Navy man said that Montero’s has been a well-known watering hole for “Swabbies” for decades since the era of “On the Waterfront” – Starring Marlon Brando. A true drinking bar, this is not the place to find drinks with funny names shaken into pastel colors. But hard drinks for people who wanna get drunk fast!!
I was fortunate enough to be there on a Saturday Night where my sources informed me that Amethyst will be showing up with a Kareoke machine sometime around 10PM.
I met three “Singer-Ringers” that convinced me to do a couple of standard numbers. Which I was totally into. Being the closet performer that I am! 🙂
I also had the “Honor” of taking a special request from Miss Carol who is one of the regulars. When she said it was a Whitney Houston song I almost declined. But when she told me it was her 1st husband’s favorite song. Then how can you turn that down!
I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. But when I turned away from the tele-prompter to sing her a few lines. I noticed that she was getting very emotional. I had struck a cord!
With tears in her eyes, she thanked me and I realized that we both had gotten something out of this performance!
I can’t guarantee that you’ll have the same experience. But if you find yourself on Atlantic on a late Saturday night, then stop into Montero’s and don’t forget to buy Carol a drink!!
PBR $4 – Jamesons $6 – Closing down Montero’s to Carol singing “Fever” , PRICELESS!!

So I’m a huge cop show fan!! I’m talking classic shows like Kojak, Baretta, Starsky and Hutch, The Rockford Files, Ironside, Law and Order AND Criminal Minds. Just to name a few! I mean, I could keep going!
The bottom line is that New York City has always been the BEST city for cop shows! 6 MILLION viewers tuned in to watch NBC’s new show Prime Suspect starring Maria Bello and it looks like it could be a re-make 😉 classic too! So when NBC was looking for “Classic New York” images for their set design, who’d they come to? Me!!
I’m excited to work with a network and especially on a cop show!! Subscribe Now and I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
STAY TUNED FOR A PREVIEW OF THE NEXT POST EPISODE! 😉
